Book Reviews

Here are a few book reviews of books that I've read over the summer! :) Enjoy!

  1.      Dream Girl (by Lauren Mechling) is an amazing book that you MUST READ. I looooove this book so much!
"Claire Voyante has been having strange visions ever since she can remember. But the similarity between her name and her talents is purely coincidental. The name is French, and unlike the psychics on TV, she can’t solve crimes or talk to the dead. Whenever Claire follows her hunches, she comes up empty—or ends up in pretty awkward situations.
But that all changes on Claire’s 15th birthday, when her grandmother, Kiki—former socialite, fashion icon, and permanent fixture at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel—gives her something a little more extraordinary than one of her old cocktail dresses: a strange black-and-white onyx cameo on a gold chain. It’s not long before Claire’s world becomes a whole lot clearer. And a whole lot more dangerous."
  2.      My new favorite book this summer is Death by Bikini, written by Linda Gerber. Ever since I began reading the book, I couldn't put it down. There are three books in the series, including this one, Death by Latte, and Death by Denim.
"Aphra Behn Connolly has the type of life most teenage girls envy. She lives on a tropical island and spends most of her time eavesdropping on the rich and famous. The problem is her family's secluded luxury resort allows few opportunities for her to make friends, much less to meet cute boys. So when smoldering Seth Mulo unexpectedly arrives with his parents, she's immediately drawn to him. Then a girl turns up dead on the beach, the strings of her bikini top tight around her neck, and the alarm bells sound. What exactly are Seth and his family hiding? And is it too great a coincidence that they turned up one day before a murder? As the plot thickens, Aphra finds that danger lurks behind even the most unexpected of faces...."
  3.      "This Lullaby" is another great summer read. I loved this book so much and just couldn't put it down. Probably the best book I've read all summer! :)
"Remy always knows the perfect time to give a boyfriend "the speech" telling him it's over: right after the first romantic rush, but before any real emotional involvement happens. And Remy should have perfect timing, since she's had plenty of experience dumping guys. Not to mention what she's learned from watching her own mother, who's been married four times and is heading for wedding number five.
So then what is it about Dexter that makes it so hard for Remy to follow her own rules? He's everything she hates: messy, disorganized, impulsive, and worst of all, a musician like her father. The father Remy never knew, the one who wrote a famous song for her but disappeared from her life. Remy has never had trouble getting out while the getting is good. But there's just something about Dexter... Could it be that Remy is finally finding out what all those love songs are talking about?"
Those are my favorite books so far this summer. If you have any more books that you want me to read, leave a comment! Thanks. :)
